The GYROKINESIS SYSTEM® & GYROTONIC® (with the machine) was created by Juliu Horvath (Who's ballet career came to a sudden halt after rupturing an Achilles tendon). Initially The Gyrokinesis® system with Professional Dancers and then he developed the idea of building and crafting the machine: The GYROTONIC® Expansion System - by integrating movements from yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi and swimming combining both breath and movement to work the body’s joints, muscles whilst also stimulating the body’s internal organs. The Gyrotonic®& Gyrokinesis® Method is a movement method that addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing the range of motion and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. It is an original and unique method, which coordinates movement, breath, and mental focus. Encouraging the body to move towards a direction of expansion, whilst being anchored from the core centre. And particularly rotating the hip and shoulder joints through a greater, fuller range of movement, that's easier to achieve with this type of support and technique, around the joint axis. That will help to create muscle balance and improved functional joints.

What do GYROKINESIS ® & GYROTONIC ® lessons consist of?

Fluidity is the key. Postures are not held for long periods of time. Instead, postures are smoothly and harmoniously connected through the use of breath, making exercises appear and feel more like a dance and swimming. The corresponding breathing patterns executed during every movement stimulate the nervous system, open up the energy pathways and oxygenate the blood.
